If you are a regular user, then you need to know that VertrigoServ is not for you. You see, this is a complete development and server environment that is meant to be used by developers and programmers. And there’s much developers and programmers will like about VertrigoServ: the application is quite lightweight, it includes up-to-date packages, it supports multiple languages, it is free, and it includes Apache, PHP, MySQL, SQLite, and more.

The VertrigoServ installer is close to 14MB in size, which isn’t very much; downloading this installer from the web will not take long, especially if you’re on a high-speed connection. Once you have the installer, just run it and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. In just a few clicks you will be done with getting VertrigoServ up and running on your machine.

While VertrigoServ is running you will notice a special icon in the system tray. The same thing happens when you left or right click the aforementioned icon: a context menu shows up and allows you to start/stop the server, access the logs, export data, access the settings, and more. Speaking about settings, there are many to play with: component settings, extension settings, program settings, aliases and directories settings.

VertrigoServ bundles together several useful tools: Apache web server, PHP programming language, MySQL database management system, SQLite database management system, SQLite Manager for managing SQLite databases, phMyAdmin (PHP-written tool for managing MySQL), and Zend Optimizer (tool for increasing runtime performance). Released under a GNU General Public License, VertrigoServ is free software.
